Habitat for Humanity Singapore is proud to have Mr. S. Dhanabalan (Chairman, Temasek Holdings; ex-Cabinet Minister) as our patron. Mr. Dhanabalan is an active Habitat volunteer, participating in Habitat builds and events regularly through the year. He is a great source of inspiration for many Habitat staff and volunteers.

Ms Amy Lee Yuen Ying (Chairperson)

Ms Amy Lee was a senior partner with M/s Lee & Lee prior to joining the Project Finance Team in Lovells Lee & Lee as a consultant. Her work with Lovells Lee & Lee specialises in property and infrastructure projects, as well as government advisory work.

Married with 4 children, Ms Amy Lee has serve on the School Management Council of Nanyang Primary School; serve on the Board of Directors of Nanyang Girls High School as well as a Board of Director of Habitat for Humanity Singapore.


Mr David Ong Liang Bong (Vice-Chairperson)

Mr David Ong is a real estate consultant. With a passion for the community, he started a medium sized property consultancy firm, Benchmark Real Estate so that , to give enable hime greater flexibility of time for community service.

Mr Ong sits on numerous boards and committees with various non-profit and charity organizations. Some of them include:

Ms Sharon Cheah Ui-Hoon

Ms Sharon Cheah has been a journalist for over 10 years, and is currently a correspondent with the Business Times.

Her involvement with Habitat since 2002, when she joined a Jimmy Carter Work Project in Korea . Since then, she has lead teams to Sri Lanka and Batam , Indonesia . The journalism/history grad's previous volunteering experience includes adult literacy and church-based mission programmes, including those with US-based InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.


Mr Foo Chai Yee

Mr Foo is a senior associate with DP Architects. It is Mr Foo's intention that his career journey takes a holistic approach that covers a wider variety of experiences in design, architecture, engineering, urban design and city planning. Some of his projects include:

•  Singapore Spaceport at Changi
•  Singapore Oceanarium at Marina South
•  Retail Underpass at Esplanade Station Marina Square
•  Retroffiting of Marina Square Shopping Centre
•  Singapore Press Holdings News Centre at Toa Payoh
•  Carlton Hotel Extension
•  43 storey Dubai Mall Hotel and Service Apartment

Community service is another avenue where Mr Foo is an active participant. He was the President of the Lions of Singapore, downtown Chapter in 1999 and 2000. In August 2001, under the sponsorship of DPA, Chai Yee volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity project in rural South Korea where he helped build simple homes for the homeless farming families. He now serves on the Board of Directors for the Habitat for Humanity Singapore .


Ms Usha Menon

Ms Usha Menon is recognized as one of very few Asian cause-related marketing expert with experience and expertise in both fundraising and training with multi-national and multi-cultural exposure. Over the past 17 years, she has inspired and motivated individuals, corporate sector and charities and helped to launch cause-related initiatives in several countries in Asia Pacific and is a celebrated speaker and trainer on this subject. She has presented at various forums in Holland , U.K , U.S.A. , Canada , India , Sri Lanka , Nepal , Korea , Japan , Philippines , Taiwan , Indonesia , Malaysia , Australia , New Zealand , Hong Kong and Singapore .

Ms Menon is Chairperson of the International Board of a capacity building organization for non-profit sector called the Resource Alliance and is advisor, board member of many regional charities.

Her interest in helping to mentor and develop the capabilities of individuals and organizations involved with the development sector has been the reason for Usha undertaking speaking engagements to help causes around the world.

Prior to joining Habitat For Humanity International, she worked with the National Council of Social Service in Singapore (1988-1998). Usha is currently based in Singapore with her businessman husband and two sons. Prior to Singapore , she lived in Indonesia and in India .


Mr Yong Teck Meng (National Director)

Mr Yong Teck Meng is the first volunteer-Chairman of Habitat for Humanity Singapore. He brought together the first board of directors of Habitat Singapore , and started the Singapore operation in the year 2003. Some of the initiatives started under his leadership include the annual "Under No Roof" event, where young people gather to experience homelessness for a day; and the development of Batam as a build site, so that Singaporeans can participate in 1-day builds. For the Tsunami relief effort, he led the Habitat team to successfully receive sponsorship from the Singapore Red Cross to build 1,500 houses in Meulaboh , Indonesia .

Mr Yong has been a long-time volunteer in many other social causes. He volunteered with the Community Chest for more than 10 years, winning the Special Volunteer Award for his fundraising effort. He is also a prominent church leader, involved in other non-profit organisations and projects. He appears regularly at TV and radio talk shows.

Mr Yong is married with two daughters.
